Biography
Polish by birth, French by chance. Born in 1989, the year the Berlin Wall fell, Tomasz Namerła grew up in Poland, came to France at nineteen for a year, and never left. He lives and works in Nantes.
An author, director and photographer, he tells stories, whatever the medium: documentary or fiction, photography or stage, testimony or movement. His films air sometimes on France Télévisions, sometimes as Instagram stories; his work also inhabits heritage sites, from the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud to the Château de La Roche-Guyon.
Every project starts from real material, archives, a place, a voice, in search of what links the intimate to collective history. He finds them both inside society and at its margins, with particular attention to sound, light and silence.
“Look, listen, gather, understand what connects us. Pass it on. And bring wonder.”
